The "Management Ten-Key" is a keypad that generates passwords by itself. The automatically generated passwords come in three types: the "Daily Pass," which is valid for one day; the "Time-Limited Pass," which is valid for 2.5 hours; and the "Monthly Pass," which is valid for four weeks. Operation requires only a dedicated software to issue the necessary one-time passwords, with no communication needed. Our company designs and manufactures custom keyboards tailored to our customers' specifications. Here are some examples of requests we have received from customers. 【Overview】 ■Background A commercially available numeric keypad was used for the entry and exit system at a construction site, but it received poor reviews in terms of usability and durability, leading to the introduction of an alternative keyboard. ■Key Points of Introduction In the entry and exit system, the keys 3, 5, and 7 on the numeric keypad were designated for entry, exit, and confirmation, respectively. However, these were confusing for users, leading to frequent misoperations, so shortcut keys were added separately. Labels can be placed inside the transparent keycaps, eliminating the issue of fading text during use. Additionally, due to the dusty environment of the construction site, the dustproof structure was also a key point for the introduction. ■Effects of Introduction By using a numeric keypad combined with shortcut keys, we achieved reliable operation. The adoption of rubber springs that also serve as seals resulted in a keyboard with dustproof and waterproof properties. Since the key tops are covered with transparent caps, we achieved durability without fading text. This led to an overall improvement in the functionality of the entry and exit system.
